My baby enjoys the finer things in life
So Shelbi called me yesterday from Babies R Us (slogan: We're not saying you're a bad parent but we can't believe you don't have one of these yet). She was running an errand to get Elliott a larger swaddler as our baby has turned into a two-month old Houdini with our previous one. Shelbi then tells me "Oh, and I also got him a terry cloth robe." I laughed. She was not kidding.
Now, don't get me wrong, Elliott enjoys a good bath. You might even say that, along with staring directly at light fixtures for 30 minutes at a time, it's one of his favorite things in the entire world at this point. And for people who enjoy bathing and who have a lot of free time on their hands (also Elliott) a robe can be a viable option in one's wardrobe. My contention over the phone was "He's a baby. I don't think that the addition of a robe is going to facilitate his ability to relax after a bath any more or less than say, a one-piece outfit with either trucks, monkeys or monkeys driving trucks on it and we have literally hundreds of those." But I did not win the argument. He needed the robe.
After Elliott's bath last night I saw the robe for the first time and I very sweetly offered to dry Elliott and dress him while Shelbi finished her own bath. A few minutes later she came into our bedroom to witness this. It just seemed like the right thing to do.

I have to side with Shelbi on this one. It could be a good investment. Toni has a blue robe with frogs on it that she's had since the Reagan administration. She usually only pulls out the cigar and courvoisier on the weekends though.

What are doing to our baby? Corrupting him already!

What an adorable picture! It will be a great candidate for a high school yearbook picture 18 years from now!

I say lose the wine glass, too decadent, the cigar though may have potential. Wasn't it a causative agent in Charles Spurgeon's development? He could be president of Wheaton one day.

Ok, I am late to comment but that is pretty awesome. You even captured the appropriate expression on his face. Hilarious. But really, Shelbi, a robe for a baby? I've seen it all.
