Saturday (7:29 p.m.)
So it's been a while since I posted. There's a good reason for that. Here are the high and lowlights from Friday night and Saturday morning:
Con: College basketball
Con: The Pac-10
Con: Getting ahead of myself
Con: Shelbi's focusing
Con: My intestines following the combination of my diet on Thursday and what will come to be known as The Friday Night Debacle
Con: That Taco Bell nachos commercial... and the Enterprise car commercial... Let's just make this commercials in general.
Con: Being nearly mathematically eliminated in my pool after Saturday despite a perfect Thursday.
Con: My only hope resting with a Pittsburgh team that would have had its clocked cleaned yesterday had it played Siena.
There's not a lot to be happy about right now. 16-0 Thursday. 7-9 Friday. Down an Elite 8 team today. And, quite frankly, there still haven't been that many upsets. How does this happen? There were about half a dozen buzzer beaters yesterday and literally every single one of them went against me. I am locked in a heated battle right now just to stay ahead of my 3-month old son who had his bracket picked with Candy Land characters.
So to punish Elliott for humiliating his father, we took him down to the beach for the first time today. In fairness, I didn't think it was going to be a punishment, but it turned into 20 minutes of squinting and gasping for breath in the wind. Welcome to Cannon Beach, your own personal hell! He has been much more happy back at the house where he has developed a bizarre fascination with a blue-liquid barometer on the wall. He somehow latches on to it with his eyes from anywhere in the room and instantly starts smiling as if it is communicating with him. Needless to say, I'm a little concerned. Go Panthers.
