This could have gone better

Elliott is approaching six months and with that comes some important milestones. At six months he can:
1. Nearly give himself a concussion while rolling as his head can apparently be used as a divining rod to find table legs.
2. More effectively and violently grab hair, necklaces and noses.
3. Show favoritism toward one particular parent. (Today I had Elliott in our guest bedroom when Shelbi got home. She called his name a few times before coming into the room and he instantly started squirming and fussing and got progressively more annoyed that I was not taking him to see his mom.)
4. Start experimenting with solid foods.
Shelbi has been pretty excited about this stage for a while. On the surface, it seems pretty nice. It makes it much easier to feed him while we're away from the house and, theoretically, he is supposed to sleep better at night. That is, of course, if the baby responds well to the baby food. We started with carrots. The experiment ended five minutes later with a gagging baby and orange goo in three out of a possible six eyebrows present at the kitchen table. Below are the results.

I love the juxtaposition of these photos. The one on the left was taken earlier in the
process. Note the clenched fist, the other hand pushing mine away and the grimace. On
the right, Elliott is resigned. He has already figured out that he can just take the
carrots and then spit them out once the spoon is removed.
